The I.C.E. St. Moritz
International Concours of Elegance is back
The event will be held on 24 and 25 February on the most famous frozen lake in the Swiss Alps
St. Moritz, Switzerland – After the success of the 2022 edition, the most original and eagerly awaited Concours d’Elegance in the Engadin is back: The I.C.E. St. Moritz, the international event that, for one weekend, will bring all the best of classic cars to the picturesque setting of the frozen lake of St. Moritz to the delight of drivers, collectors, enthusiasts and jet setters.
Once again this year, in the enchanting Alpine town, collectors from all over the world will be able to enjoy the unprecedented experience of driving their cars on the snow-covered track, usually the backdrop for horse races and polo matches, while the public can enjoy a unique spectacle.
The community of fans now recognises and loves the singularity of The I.C.E. St. Moritz, linked to the unprecedented mix of location and seasonality and a format that combines static and dynamic, sport and culture. However, there will be some important developments for the 2023 edition. For the first time, the event, which was born in 2019, will take place over two days: on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 February, thus giving the public even more opportunities to admire the starring cars and the town of St. Moritz to enjoy twice as many opportunities for entertainment and socialising.
During the first day of the event, the lake will be transformed into an open–air museum, celebrating the cars as the true works of art they are: an exhibition where the public will be able to admire the beauty and history of each car, and where past and refinement will be carefully assessed by a selected jury. Instead, the programme on the second day will alternate between static and impressive dynamic events, with the cars, wearing winter tyres, gliding down the straights against the unique backdrop of the frozen surface of Lake St. Moritz.
Participants will be carefully selected in order to respect a maximum number allowed on the snow-covered surface. The event is in fact a guest of nature, and programmes and activities are carefully organised to respect the Engadin’s priceless natural heritage.
The participating cars will be divided into five categories:
1. Open Wheels
Category dedicated to single-seater racing cars from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Cars that you don’t see every day in St. Moritz and that bring back the golden age of motor racing to your eyes and memory.
2. Barchettas on the lake
“Barchetta’ is what journalist Giovanni Canestrini called the historic Ferrari 166 in 1948, and this term has remained unchanged ever since to refer to the open two-seater racing cars of the 1950s. After all, what car is better suited to being driven on the lake than a barchetta?
3. Le Mans 100
The 100th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place in 2023 and to celebrate it, this special category has been created, which will feature a selection of racing cars that have known their success in this race, considered the most important endurance race in the world.
4. Concept Cars & One Offs
A category that brings together truly unique examples: concept cars, born from the minds of ingenious designers who anticipated many innovations later adopted for series production, and one-offs, made for owners who want a truly bespoke car.
5. Queens on Wheels
This category brings together some of the most iconic cars of the 20th century, true queens on four wheels, full members of the jet set in St. Moritz as much as the many sportspeople and socialites who have frequented the lake over the years.
