WINE, MUSIC, ART, AND FOOD IN THE HEART OF UMBRIA
MONTEFALCO (PERUGIA) – In the beautiful village of Montefalco (Perugia), from September 15 to 17, Enologica Montefalco – Pairings returns, an event dedicated to wine paired with food, art, and music, organized by the Consortium for the Protection of Montefalco Wines and La Strada del Sagrantino. The stars of the show will be the outstanding wines of the Montefalco and Spoleto regions, accompanied by excellent cuisine, music, and art. Three days of tastings, workshops, cellar tours, and sunset experiences await.
Among the highlights of “Enologica Montefalco – Pairings” is the producers’ tasting counter, open every day from 11 AM to 7:30 PM in the Cloister of St. Augustine. Here, visitors can taste and purchase wines from the Montefalco Doc, Spoleto Doc, and Montefalco Sagrantino Docg denominations, as well as other wines produced within the protected designation of origin areas represented by the Consortium for the Protection of Montefalco Wines. This event features the participation of 25 wineries and over 100 labels available for tasting, including Adanti, Agricola Mevante, Antonelli San Marco, Arnaldo Caprai, Az. Agr. De Conti, Benedetti & Grigi, Briziarelli, Cesarini-Sartori, Colle Ciocco, Colle del Saraceno, Dionigi, Fattoria Colsanto, La Veneranda, Le Cimate, Moretti Omero, Napolini, Perticaia, Scacciadiavoli, Tenuta Alzatura – Fam. Cecchi, Tenuta ColFalco, Tenute Lunelli – Tenuta Castelbuono, Terre De’ Trinci, Terre de la Custodia, Terre dei Nappi, and Terre di San Felice. Additionally, artisans of taste, local small producers who draw inspiration from the world of wine, will accompany the wines with their typical products, together with artisans and artists: Az. Agraria Castello di Pupaggi, Fattoria Opagna, Fonti di Sassovivo, Forno San Feliciano, and Professor Luigi Gambacurta.
Enologica Montefalco – Pairings offers a rich program for both adults and children, including wine and food, culture, and exclusive events such as the “Dinner and Detective Tasting” where participants take on the roles of detectives to solve an exciting mystery, in collaboration with Sarabanda Teatro, featuring a menu curated by Ristorante GUS. This event takes place on Friday, September 15, at 7:30 PM in the Cloister of St. Augustine. There are also the thrilling wine and music tastings “Vino Pop” guided by journalist Antonio Boco, featuring musical stories by Surd Ensemble on Saturday, September 16, at 6:00 PM, and “The Sounds of Wine” guided by journalist Jacopo Cossater with sound designer Ricc Frost on Sunday, September 17, at 11:30 AM, both in the Council Chamber. The program continues with “Montefalco Land for Wine,” an exploration of the region’s designations, the sound show “Wine and Music at the Theater” Fusion, where the sound of the violin blends with contemporary music vibrations in a DJ set. This event takes place on Saturday, September 16, at 9:30 PM in the San Filippo Neri Theater. The same location hosts a cooking show with Gigì Passera (the other half of the Passera sisters), “Bruschette for Wine Lovers,” paired with wine and curated by journalist Antonio Boco on Saturday, September 16, at 5:00 PM. The event caters to everyone, with activities for children and their families, such as the “Treasure Hunt of the Seasick Pirate,” an adventure full of surprises, and “For Bacchus: A Sweet Fairytale!” a culinary journey into the world of fairy tales for young chefs, as well as wine tastings for parents. There are also dedicated art and nature activities with guided tours at the San Francesco Museum and a guided walk with excursion guide Cristiano Ceppi. Montefalco’s participating restaurants will present special dishes paired with Doc and Docg wines.
Enologica Montefalco – Pairings will not only involve the entire village of Montefalco, but this year, the local wineries will also host a series of events, including the much-anticipated “Sunset Aperitif in the Cellar” on Sunday, September 17, at 5:30 PM. As tradition dictates, the Grape Harvest Festival will feature a parade of grape-themed floats on Sunday, September 17, at 3:00 PM.
