CHAMPAGNE & ART
When Two Arts Meet
Contemporary Art 30 metres below ground
The theme of the new POMMERY EXPERIENCE # is Mélodies en sous-sol – Melodies in the Underground. Endowed with exaltation and fugue, it also evokes the bubbling, the rustling of a sustained force, present in the depths.
The art installations that make up the new itinerary reflect the nuances of the theme: deliberate lightness, poetry, quirky humour, sparkling colours, evanescent impressions – these are the components of this new POMMERY EXPERIENCE, which highlights the timeless, almost dreamlike character of the cellars.
Featuring artworks from :
Genesis Belanger, Elisabeth Benassi, Choi Jeong Hwa, Encoreunestp, Anne-Charlotte Finel, Luka Fineisen, Bertrand Gadenne, Anina Major, Tony Matelli, Angelica Mesiti, Nam Tchun-Mo, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Alain Passard, Pablo Reinoso, Yoshiki…
Curator: Fabrice Bousteau
From the 19th century onwards, the love of arts and the perceptive policy of Madame Pommery were characterised by key strengths: The building of the Domaine Pommery in Reims, the invention of Champagne Brut in 1874 but also the immoderate support of art.
Since 2002, Pommery has revived this tradition and created a new mode of expression for artists by opening the doors of its estate and its Gallo-Roman chalk pits. As a unique and history-laden subterranean place of encounter, The crayères welcome the artists of today from all over the world who open an artistic bracket under the direction of curators with a constantly renewed creativity.
